Dighi Port

  • Dighi Port, an all weather deep water port, is situated at about 45 nautical miles south of Mumbai, on the west coast of India. Dighi port lies in the Raigarh district of Maharashtra at latitude 18° 6’12 " N and longitude 72° 58’18 " E in the Rajpuri Creek

  • Dighi Port is one of the first private sector non-major ports in Maharashtra being developed by Dighi Port Limited on concession from Maharashtra Maritime Board on a 50 years Build, Operate, Share and Transfer Basis (BOOST)

  • The development is being carried out across two banks, with Dighi on the southern bank and Agardanda on the northern bank of the creek

  • IL&FS has been involved in the project as an advisor and co-developer of Dighi Port Project since February 2005

  • Dighi Port is currently operational with 2 berths (berth 1 & 2) on the Southern bank. The development of 2 more berths (berth 3 & 4) on the Northern Bank is in progress
  • Dighi Port is being developed in a phased manner as an all weather port with total 9 berths. There is a total availability of 5 kms of waterfront (both banks combined) and adequate land for storage / backup area

  • Phase 1 comprises the development of 5 multi-purpose berths (South bank: 2 berths; North bank /Agardanda: 3 berths) with total capacity of 30 MTPA

  • Phase 2 & Phase 3 shall have additional berths for containers, liquid bulk, LNG, Ro-Ro and Multipurpose cargo with capacity addition of 30 MTPA in each phase

  • Berths 1 & 2 on the South Bank (Dighi) are operational with a total quay length of 650 mtrs. 2 Harbour Mobile Cranes have been installed and are operational on the berths

  • Construction of berths 3 & 4 (Agardanda) is currently in progress and expected to complete soon

  • Dighi is strategically positioned on the international and coastal shipping route and is in close proximity to the industrial rich hinterland of Central Maharashtra of Mumbai - Pune - Nashik Belt

  • Port is uniquely positioned to optimally supplement the cargoes handled at the adjacent major ports of Mumbai and JNPT

  • Port can emerge as an ideal location for port based industries like Refineries, Petrochemical Complexes, Cement and Fertiliser plants

  • Dighi is one of the important nodes in the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project and will attract significant northern hinterland cargo due to ease of accessibility. Dighi Port Industrial Area will be developed as part of the DMIC project in vicinity of Dighi port

  • MOU has been signed between Dighi Port Ltd., RVNL and Central Railways to develop a rail linkage for the port (Roha Dighi Rail Linkage). With Dighi Roha rail linkage in place, port will be able to emerge as an “Energy Hub” for Maharashtra
